Advection-dominated Accretion Model of X-ray Nova Muscae in Outburst

چکیده
We present a model for the high-low state transition of the X-Ray Nova GS 112468 (Nova Muscae 1991) observed by Ginga. The model consists of an advectiondominated accretion flow (ADAF) near the central black hole surrounded by a thin accretion disk. During the rise phase of the outburst, as the mass accretion rate increases, the transition radius between the thin disk and the ADAF moves closer to the center, until the thin disk extends all the way in to the last stable orbit. The transition radius increases again during decline. We reproduce the basic features of the spectra taken during and after outburst, and the light curves in the soft and hard X-ray bands. We estimate that the accretion rate in Nova Muscae decreased exponentially with a time scale ∼ 95 days during decline.

Non - Steady State Accretion Disks in X - Ray Novae : Outburst Models for Nova Monocerotis 1975 and Nova Muscae 1991
We fit outbursts of two X-ray novae (Nova Monocerotis 1975 = A 0620–00 and Nova Muscae 1991 = GS 1124–683) using a time-dependent accretion disk model. The model is based on a new solution for a diffusion-type equation for the non-steady-state accretion and describes the evolution of a viscous α–disk in a binary system after the peak of an outburst, when matter in the disk is totally ionized. T...
متن کاملEvidence For Advective Flow From Multi-Wavelength Observations Of Nova Muscae
We model the UV/optical spectrum of the black hole binary Nova Muscae as a sum of black body emissions from the outer region of an accretion disk. We show for self-consistency that scattering effects in this region are not important. The black hole mass (M ≈ 6M⊙), the inclination angle (μ ≈ 0.5) and the distance to the source (D ≈ 5 kpc) have been constrained by optical observations during quie...

We present a unified model of infrared (IR), optical, ultraviolet (UV), and X-ray light curves for the 1983 outburst of GQ Muscae (Nova Muscae 1983) and estimate its white dwarf (WD) mass. Based on an optically thick wind model of nova outbursts, we model the optical and IR light curves with free-free emission, and the UV 1455 Å and supersoft X-ray light curves with blackbody emission. The best...
متن کاملModels of Quiescent Black Hole and Neutron Star
When the mass accretion rate onto a black hole (BH) falls below a critical rate, _ M crit 2 _ M Edd , accretion can occur via a hot optically thin ow where most of the dissipated energy is advected inward. We present such an advection-dominated model for the soft X-ray transient (SXT) A0620-00. This source has a puzzlingly low X-ray luminosity in quiescence, 6 10 30 erg s 1 , despite a relative...
متن کاملBlack hole soft X - ray transients : evolution of the cool disk and mass supply for the ADAF
Using the black hole transient X-ray source A0620-00 as an example we study the physical interplay of three theoretical constituents for modelling these transient sources: (1) the advection-dominated accretion flow (ADAF) onto the central black hole, (2) the evaporation of matter from the cool outer disk forming a coronal flow and (3) standard disk evolution leading to outburst cycles by accret...
